Linda Hoffman Kimball
Light and shadow.
Color and contrast.
Abstraction and detail.
Composition and texture.
Negative space that has a story to tell.
As an artist I wrestle and dance with all these concepts. My BA from Wellesley College and MFA from Boston University gave me tools and structure for the wrangling I practice in a variety of media: drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media and fiber art. One subject might call for the whispers of a sensitive line drawing. Another demands a bold shout-out to the imperative of nature. Others are incomplete without a little tinsel and whimsy. The process is joyful, taxing, surprising, aerobic, and exhilarating.
My fine art has been exhibited at Harvard University, Wellesley College, Boston University and in private collections in LA, Chicago, Cape Cod and Washington, DC. It graces many upscale bathrooms and other places of inspiration and contemplation.
My illustrations appear on the pages of a variety of periodicals and sites and in books published by Random House, Houghton Mifflin (text and trade), Delaware Valley Poets Society, W.W. Norton, University of Michigan Press and others. For more information on my writing and illustrating visit LindaHoffmanKimball.com.
